Passing the Adour river, the river that separates the Seignanx from the Basque Country, everything changes: the roads become more winding to climb along the Pyrenean piedmont, the coast becomes rocky, the red shutters highlight the big white houses, the Basque (the Basque language) replaces Occitan everywhere and the accent becomes more rocky. And there’s so much to discover between Bayonne, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz… , the picturesque villages (Espelette, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Arcangues, Guéthary, and many more), the gastronomic and gourmet stages (Bayonne ham, chocolate, Basque cake…) without forgetting the many leisure activities available (thalasso, golf, rafting…).
It takes less than an hour to drive and go discover the Béarnais villages, such as Navarrenx or Salies-de-Bern. The latter, which is nicknamed «the city of salt» or the «Béarnaise Venice», seduces by its narrow and flowery streets that meander between the old stone houses with their steep roofs.
